A/C is not working! Call A.I.R. Plus to resolve the issue today.

A/C is not working! Call A.I.R. Plus to resolve the issue today.

If air cannot flow across the evaporator coil which is part of your air conditioning system and normally located inside your indoor unit. Cool air will not be produced! It must be free from debris, dust, dirt, hair and other contaminates. Take a look at the attached picture. This coil was so clogged up it could not longer produce cool air and it soaked the area is was located in with drainage issues from frost/ice issues.

The attached picture is that of a coil so dirty and clogged that when we began to brush the dirt off of it just roll off!

Change your air filters regularly to avoid this, please!

Why your outdoor A/C Unit must be cleaned!

Does Your A/C look like this?

Does Your A/C look like this? Hopefully not!

Cottonwood tree seed, dust, pet hair and dirt can block the fins on your outdoor a/c condensing unit and restrict airflow. If the airflow is restricted the unit can not properly extract the heat from your home or business.  You must keep it clean for your energy usage to be normal. You must keep it clean to keep your comfort level normal. You must keep it clean to maintain the life of the cooling equipment. I think you get the message.

Have your A/C -Cooling Equipment cleaned and serviced annually, please!

Call A.I.R. Plus today at 405-618-2247 or 405-521-4191 to have your A/C Unit cleaned before the summer heat begins!

A/C Tune-Up and Inspection should include duct work inspection!

The attached picture is of flex duct piping for a central heating and cooling system installed 25 years ago. As you can see the insulation that is to insure the heated or cooled air arrives efficiently to the room or rooms it is to heat or cool has lost it’s ability to do so! In most cases the plastic barrier that holds the insulation to the pipe and insures it does its job, is brittle and can not be reused.  So replacing the duct work piping all together is typically the best option.

When you have your air conditioner serviced for the upcoming summer, please insure that part of the inspection and tune-up includes the duct work being inspected for performance issues. In this case the occupants knew there was an issue. The comfort level and performance of the cooling and heating was very poor in this particular room.

Call A.I.R. Plus at 405-618-2247 or 405-421-5191 for an A/C inspection and tune-up. We use a check list that includes the duct work system.

No Heat – Heating Issue with Heat Pump!

If you have a Heat Pump and your home or business is not stating warm as normal you may have an heating issue. The key word is may. Because Heat Pumps can be designed and setup to work with varying parameters.

Examples: Older Heat Pumps (2003 and earlier – varies by model) may have an outdoor thermostat that will disengage the Heat Pump when the outdoor temperature is below a set point. Normally 32*F to 45*F. Newer Heat Pumps (2004 and newer – varies by model) will continue to run with the assistance of auxiliary heat or electric heat strips, electric heat strips are to be used to supplement the Heat Pumps heat and or to be used in an emergency when the Heat Pump needs repair.

Heat Pump performance is also determined by the  set-up of the thermostat. In some cases the amount of time the heat pump runs versus the set point for thermostat or desired room temperature may determine if the Heat Pump will run or not run with the assistance of auxiliary heat.  Or the thermostat can control the Heat Pump manually by selecting Aux. Heat or Emergency Heat  versus normal Heat.

The attached picture is of a Heat Pump that was not working in because of mechanical issues and needed repair. Otherwise it would have been working along with the auxiliary heat to heat the home even in outdoor temperatures below freezing.

If you purchase a home and have never had a Heat Pump to control or understand. Call A.I.R. Plus Inc. for help in understanding what a Heat Pump is and have it serviced semi-annually. Why the service? Because Heat Pumps work to heat your home in the winter and cool your home in the summer. So they do double duty versus a normal A/C unit.

Call 405-618-2AIR today for a complete inspection and explanation of your Heat Pump System!

Heating Issues with short cycling furnaces and air handlers.

You must change your air filters and keep your furnace as clean as possible.

You must change your air filters and keep your furnace as clean as possible.

It’s True! If you do not change your air filters in your HVAC system it will cause many heating and cooling issues !

The attached picture is of a blower wheel from a gas furnace. As you can see it not only has a build-up of dirt it also picked up debris. The dirt and debris then restricts the air flow through your heating and cooling system causing safety switches to trigger and shut off the heating prematurely. This in turn cause a lack of heating capacity and then you are cold!

How do you prevent this? Change your air filters regularly and have your heating system serviced every year before the heating season starts.

Call, text or email  A.I.R. Plus today if have you have heating concerns or comfort issues. (405)618-2247 or (405)421-5191

30 Year Old Flexible Air Duct is no longer functionable!

Old - Leaky Duct work

30 Year Old Flex Duct #2

Duct Insulation is gone!

Flexible Duct Piping has been commonly used for over 30 years in residential and commercial HVAC applications and in ductwork setups. However, just like most man made things – they wear out and break down and are no longer doing what they were originally designed to do!

If you see duct work piping in your home or business, that looks like the attached pictures.  You are wasting money in heating or cooling the space the duct work is set-up in.

When you have your Heating and Cooling System serviced and or replaced, make a point to ask your HVAC Contractor what the condition of your duct work is and to provide pictures.  You maybe surprised at the condition, especially if its over 20 years old!

Call 405-618-2247 and allow us to give you an evaluation of your Duct Work System. We will give you information, feedback and suggestions for resolution of your comfort concerns and energy efficiency. Or go to airokc.com for additional information.
